DIY Greener Homes Scheme

Greener Homes is a SCDC funded scheme that gives
people free stuff to help them save energy in their
homes.
Two large B&Q lorries with cranes on the back turned up at the village hall to unload masses of insulation materials and lorries delivered water butts, electricity use monitors and lots of other goodies.

Meanwhile other lorries delivered sheep wool insulation to peoples' homes. All this was the result of a collaboration between OtleyGreen and the Suffolk Climate Change Partnership. Over 50 people took advantage of the scheme and each received between £70 and £350 worth of free goods to help save energy.

As a result of the scheme Otley will be emitting nearly 25 tonnes less CO2 every year and in total the participants will be saving over £3000 a year on their energy bills. The water butts will save 88000 litres of drinking water
